Bridal Beauty Tips

It’s easily the most important day of your life – your wedding day. Most brides think they plan for every detail, but there is something that few take into account before the actual day: your beauty routine. It’s not enough to just handle it the day before. You should be thinking about your skin and hair up to two weeks before the big day, and planning ahead with the help of your salon is easier than you think.

Facial Care
You want a glowing, radiant, calm look on your wedding day, and the best possible way to accomplish that is to start with monthly facials up to six months before the big day. Your last facial should happen no later than two weeks before your wedding to ensure your skin looks great. Let your salon advise you on the best type of facial before you go in each month.
If you typically have dermabrasion or chemical peels on a regular basis, it’s best to avoid those for a full month before your wedding. Moreover, if you typically use Botox or an injectable wrinkle filler, ensure your last treatment is three weeks before the wedding. Otherwise, you could find some bruises on your face on your big day. Cool touch lasers, though, can be done about one week before your wedding with no problems.
If you do have regular acne problems, stick to your standard treatment schedule, and don’t try any new products during the course of the month before you get married. If you do develop a pimple, put a hot compress on it, then a cold compress, and a small bit of benzyl peroxide. Cotton pads soaked in mile or chamomile tea and warm water can also help your skin deal with the effects of stress. If you do end up with a pimple on your wedding day, there are lots of makeup tricks to help conceal it.

Waxing
Plucking or waxing your eyebrows and any type of body waxing should be done at least a week before your wedding. All of these things can irritate your skin and lead to swelling, bumps, discomfort, and even bleeding, none of which you want to deal with on your big day. If you’ve never had any of these procedures before, you’ll want to book your appointment to fall at least ten days prior to the wedding just to ensure you have enough time to recover.

Tanning
Remember that you’d prefer less rather than more. Orange and beet red just don’t go with your dress, so start tanning in the months before your wedding, and follow your salon’s instructions on how frequently to return. Keep in mind that if your dress is white, it will reflect light, so darker isn’t always better.

Your Hair
Most brides have a professional stylist handle their hair on the big day, so you may want to book a trial run with your stylist the day before. It’s best not to try any new products on your hair, and don’t let anyone make you decide on a style you don’t like. Go in with an open mind, but be persistent about what you want too.
